Job description

The Pulmonary Clinic provides specialist healthcare within its field. We deal with investigations and treatments. The population within the county Östergötland is around 460 000 inhabitants, and even more highly specialised care, mostly investigations, are provided for the Southeastern part of Sweden with around 1.2 million inhabitants.

For the moment 14 specialist doctors and 6 doctors in specialist training works at the clinic. Under their specialist training, doctors from the southeastern part of Sweden within the pulmonary field come to the clinic to work and get experience from the University Hospital. From the University Hospital we also have doctors practising. Since we are a part of a University Hospital we also have medical students and students within in other professions doing part of their practise with us.

We have an interventional unit for patients under investigation and provides bronchoscopy including EBUS and starting cryobiopsies. Some specialists are skilled to perform CT-guided lung biopsies. We also provide thoracic drainage and have rounds with the thoracic surgeons on a weekly basis. All medical oncologic treatments for lungcancer patients are located within the Pulmonary Clinic. Radiation therapy is within the Oncology Clinic. We also have weekly rounds discussing these patients.

We provide medical care for adult patients with cystic fibrosis and also for patients who has undergone a lung transplant. Within these fields we work closely together with centers for cystic fibrosis and lung transplant in Sweden. We also provide specialised care for patients with COPD, IPF, sarcoidosis and other pulmonary conditions. Home mechanical ventilation and oxygen treatment at home are also provided for the inhabitans of our county.

Specialised care for asthma is provided by the allergy center, which is a separate clinic at the hospital.

At the clinic we have several experienced nurses and physioterapeuts and we all work together in teams, making the care multiprofessional. The ward is situated within the same building and hosts around twelve lung patients and is organised together with the oncology ward.

You will work within the different sections and as a specialist at the ward, often on a weekly basis. We don´t expect you to already have experience within every field. Most specialists cover some areas and inward patients. Depending on your earlier experience you will also take part in doing rounds in the weekend at the ward.

Requirements

Registered medical license within the EU/EEA.

Registered license as a Pulmonologist.

Experience from pulmonary care at a hospital level. Preferrably within a field that already is within the clinic.

Postgraduate education and active research in the subject area of pulmonary medicine are meritorious.

Basic computer skills.

English and Swedish language skills.

Personal characteristics

Good cooperative ability and can handle different situations in a constructive way. You should enjoy working in teams with different professions. Ability and wish to further development within the pulmonary field.

Terms of employment

Before moving to Sweden you need to reach a certain level in the Swedish language and have your medical training recognized by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/en/licence-application/.

The employment will start with a trial period, combined with further language studies. If the trial period will be proved satisfactory and you demonstrate required skills recognized by the County Council of Östergötland, it will automatically turn into a permanent employment.

All contracts follow local and national collective agreements. Salary is set individually depending on your qualification and experience.
