The Department of clinical immunology and transfusion medicine is located at the University Hospital in Linköping and provides services to the entire region of Östergötland and to the south-eastern health care region.

Within the clinic you find both diagnostics in immunology and a broad variety of services in transfusion medicine. Through our blood donation centre in Linköping and blood bus we supply blood components to all the area hospitals. The department also operates a laboratory for around-the-clock immunohematology services. Our Stem cell laboratory and HLA tissue-typing laboratory collaborates with the Hematology clinic in securing stem cells for transplantation and products for advanced cellular therapies. In addition, we are qualified for several forms of therapeutic apheresis modalities.   

Job description

We are looking for a physician with training and experience in the field of transfusion medicine. 
If you also have training in clinical immunology it is meritorious.

You will work in close collaboration with a dedicated and enthusiastic team of physicians, biomedical analysts, nurses and assistant nurses. Currently the department has 90 employees.

Your duties will include the daily supervision of immune haematology test performed in the laboratory. You will be available for dialogue with clinical doctors and referring physicians and give recommendations regarding blood transfusions. Together with our specialists and resident physicians you will take turns being part of the blood bank on-call service during nights and week-ends. You will also participate in operational planning to ensure medical safety routines and instructions for laboratory staff and referring clinics.

Requirements

Registered medical license within the EU/EEA
Registered specialist doctor in transfusion medicine
Basic computer skills
English and Swedish language skills

Personal characteristics

You have a positive attitude, a good cooperative ability and can handle different situations in a constructive way. You enjoy working in teams with different professions.

Terms of employment

Before moving to Sweden you need to reach a certain level in the Swedish language and have your medical training recognized by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/en/licence-application/.

The employment will start with a trial period, combined with further language studies. If the trial period will be proved satisfactory and you demonstrate required skills recognized by the County Council of Östergötland, it will automatically turn into a permanent employment.

All contracts follow local and national collective agreements. Salary is set individually depending on your qualification and experience.
