Day Surgery Units at Vrinnevi Hospital and Linköping University Hospital

Within the Center for Surgery, Orthopedics and Cancer Care there are two day surgery units, one unit at Vrinnevi Hospital in Norrköping and one unit at the University Hospital in Linköping. The combined mission is to be a unit that performs day surgery together with other clinics at the respective hospitals. In practice, it means collaboration with clinics within ENT, surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, gastrointestinal medicine, hand and plastic surgery, oncology and pain/rehab. The day surgery unit in Norrköping is also tasked with conducting endoscopic examinations.

At the units, we plan and operate on a large proportion of Östergötland's day surgery patients.

We cooperate between the two units that perform day surgery within Region Östergötland and also perform some highly specialized regional healthcare in the Southeast healthcare region.

Now we are looking for anesthesiologists who want to become part of the Day Surgery in Region Östergötland and develop the units and our misson together with us.

Job description

With us, you are offered a stimulating work environment with a wide variety of patients and procedures. Both the premises for Day Surgery Norrköping and Linköping are updated and modernized and inaugurated during 2018/2019. At Vrinnevi Hospital there are six state of the art operating theaters and three very well equipped endoscopy rooms and recovery unit.

There are two operating theaters at the University Hospital and a postoperative part with five beds. Since both units underwent changes of the business during 2018/2019, there is great potential to further develop the units.

As an anesthesiologist, you collaborate with operating, anesthesia and general nurses as well as assisting nurses who jointly work together as a team. The operators that come from the different surgical specialties are included in the team as they work with us.

The clinical work as an anesthesiologist in day surgery includes, among other things, anesthesia in the room, preoperative anesthesia assessment and post operative work as well as management/control. In addition to the clinical work, you are involved to develop the business together with other professions in the unit.

For this position, the opportunity is given for cooperation between the two day surgery units and has the possibility to conduct and stimulate research, development and education. There is an opportunity to influence the design of the position based on your skills profile.

We offer permanent employment with access according to agreement. 40 hour work week distributed on Monday to Friday. Some on call duty may occur when working at the day surgery unit in Linköping.

Requirements

Registered medical license within the EU/EEA
Registered physician with specialist competence in pediatric and neonatology
Basic computer skills
English and Swedish language skills

Terms of employment

Before moving to Sweden you need to reach a certain level in the Swedish language and have your medical training recognized by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/en/licence-application/.

The employment will start with a trial period, combined with further language studies. If the trial period will be proved satisfactory and you demonstrate required skills recognized by the County Council of Östergötland, it will automatically turn into a permanent employment.

All contracts follow local and national collective agreements. Salary is set individually depending on your qualification and experience.
